Shine 28th Birthday @ The Telegraph Building

Shine celebrated their 28th birthday in style as they returned to the notorious Telegraph Building on Halloween weekend with a hard-hitting line-up ready to blow the roof off 2 rooms. With a line-up consisting of some of the biggest hard techno DJ’s like Charlie Sparks and Parfait playing in the main room. To the some of the finest local talent Belfast has to offer in Andrew Cairns and Ethan Mitchell rocking room 2. My eye was drawn to room 2 of this event to see what some of Ireland’s best up and coming DJs had to offer. With Local DJ Andrew Cairns kicking off the event in Room 2 at 9:30. AVA Festival 2023

On 2nd + 3rd June 2023, the pulsating heart of electronic music came alive in Belfast as the AVA Festival returned to the iconic Titanic Slipways for its annual weekender to kick off summer in Northern Ireland.

A historic site in Belfast where the legendary RMS Titanic was built and launched over 100 years ago. Is now an iconic annual home for AVA Festival. With a scenic backdrop of the recognisable Titanic Quarter and usually paired with a sunny sky, it’s a dream venue for festival goers.

AVA Festival is arguably the most anticipated music event of the year for electronic music lovers in Northern Ireland. The weekend that AVA Festival falls on every year is notoriously known for having fantastic weather. Coupled up with an exciting line-up on both days, with a stacked roster of some of the best international DJs, whilst also showcasing the exciting local talent that Northern Ireland has to offer. AVA Festival weekend feels like Christmas to many people interested in the scene.

This annual event has solidified its reputation as a must-attend event for electronic music fans. There was a sound for everyone at the AVA Festival this year as the diverse line-up brought all different types of music to Titanic Slipways this summer. With rap artists like Central Cee, Techno DJs like SPFDJ and House DJs like Peggy Gou, the wide variety of genre’s showcased AVA’s individuality compared to other festivals.

AVA Festival really showcases the cultural vibrancy of Belfast. Attendees of the festival are known for their unique style and rowdy atmosphere. Many DJs relish playing in front of a crowd in Belfast as the energy displayed from the crowd cannot be matched anywhere else. Homegrown DJ, IMNOTYOURMATE, described his experience playing at the fan-favourite, Boiler Room stage by saying, “we always say it but there really isn’t a better crowd in the world than a Belfast crowd”.

As the dust settled on this year’s AVA Festival, many people are already looking forward to next summer to see what AVA has in store for 2024.
